Surprise

I went for a little walk in the garden this morning, holding on for dear life, the wind is nasty today. I was looking at all the things I have not done yet. That's me mister last minute or not at all. I have not figured out how to balance the 12 hour a day full time job and my gardening. I think something has to go and its not the garden.
Any way I got a little surprise apparently my lettuce went to seed and I have lettuce in the garden in November. That is something I wanted to do for the last several years, and just haven't had time. Or that's my excuse anyway. I need to quit making excuses and get it done.
I want and need to start planting a fall garden.
This is Forellenschluss lettuce. Its is an heirloom variety, and the name stands for speckled trout. It is very delicious (does not taste like trout) and it is quite heat tolerant And apparently it is quite cold tolerant, we have had several frosts and it is looking yummy. There will be fresh salad for dinner tonight.

Sailors take warning!

This was the sky at work the other day. Everything had a pink hue to it. It was beautiful!
Pink sky in the morning , sailors take warning.  It did indeed rain yesterday. And its cold today. Not suppose to get above 40 today. And we could get a couple inches of snow tomorrow.

The first load hauled home.

So I figured out how to get those giant logs home. I didn't want to haul my log splitter out there, I hate pulling the log splitter, it is so small you cant see it behind the truck. And it makes the front of my truck shimmy. I have access to trucks and trailers I work, so I borrowed a trailer with a fold down gate. I rolled the logs up the gate, then rolled them back off. Easy Peasy!

I could only haul half of it home. I put about 15 pieces on up in the front of the trailer and I realized the front wheels of the truck were barely on the ground. Oops! Explain that one to the boss!

And...........more firewood!

I just may have an addiction! I gave my little 18 inch chain saw a work out today, and my back!
I think I need a bigger saw and a bigger truck!
